CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JULY 18 2000
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR PRO TEM AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
APPROVAL: HENRY T. GARCIA, CITY MANAGER
FROM: AL HOLLIMAN, FINANCE DIRECTOR
;e
SUBJECT: AWARD A CONTRACT FOR TWO BLACK & WHITE POLICE SEDANS AND ONE
DETECTIVE SEDAN FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO WONDRIES FLEET
GROUP IN THE AMOUNT OF $72,424.16
DATE: JULY 18, 2000
BACKGROUND
The Police Department replaces some of its oldest vehicles on a yearly basis. These vehicles have in
excess of 70,000 or more miles. The City Council appropriated funds to purchase two black & white units
and one detective unit in the FY 2000-2001 budget.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS
The City of Colton can tag onto the Los Angeles County Bid #200205, under their cooperative purchasing
provision. This will save the City the cost of the formal bid process and allow us to take advantage of the
volume discount afforded to Los Angeles County.
ALTERNATIVES
Solicit sealed proposals for these vehicles, however, the cost may well be higher due to the smaller
quantity. If we solicit bids we will have to wait for the 2001 vehicles.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The funds are budgeted in the Police Patrol automotive capital account #100-6070-6072-4910 and the
Police Detective automotive capital account #100-6070-6073-4910.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council tag on to the Los Angeles County Bid K#200205 and award a
contract to Wondries Fleet Group for the purchase of three police sedans in the amount of #72,424.16.
Report prepared by Mary J.
