R- 9 -89 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF COLTON AUTHORIZING APPLICATION <br />FOR THE GEOTHERMAL. ASSESSMENT AND <br />FEASIBILITY STUDY <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton recognizes that it is in <br />the interest of the National economy to promote the development <br />of alternative energy resources to reduce our Nation's dependence <br />on costly foreign oil; and, <br />WHEREAS, geothermal energy is indigenous to the City of <br />Colton, and its careful development may provide benefits to the <br />local community in the form of jobs and reduced fuel costs; and, <br />WHEREAS, funds have been established by Assembly Bill <br />1905 and are available from the Local Government Resources <br />Revolving Subaccount in the General Fund through the California <br />Energy Commission for grants and loans to local governments for <br />geothermal -related activities; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of <br />the City of Colton authorizes the submittal of the final appli- <br />cation to the California Energy Commission for funds to prepare a <br />Geothermal Assessment and a Feasibility Study. And that the <br />designated Project Manager, Terry Lyons, for the City of Colton <br />is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the <br />City of Colton, all necessary contracts, agreements, and amend- <br />ments hereto, to implement and carry out the purposes specified <br />in this application. <br />PASSED, ADOPTED and APPROVED this 17th day of January, 1' <br />—FRAA A G ZALES <br />yor <br />
