R-103-90 <br />RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON, SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />IN SUPPORT OF "KEEP CALIFORNIA MOVING DAY". <br />WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1990. <br />WHEREAS, the week of October 1-5, 1990 has been des- <br />ignated as California Rideshare Week; and, <br />WHEREAS, local governments, through SCAG, are <br />committed to implementing rideshare targets contained in Appendix <br />IV -G of the Air Quality Management Plan; and, <br />WHEREAS, the state of California is promoting alter- <br />native modes of transportation as a means of reducing traffic <br />congestion and improving air quality; and, <br />WHEREAS, public and private agencies are working to- <br />gether to encourage all residents to minimize their single <br />occupant vehicle trips; and, <br />WHEREAS, there are increasing numbers of employer and <br />community sponsored ridesharing programs and services (van - <br />pooling, carpooling, municipal bus, light rail); and, <br />WHEREAS, the general public has taken positive steps <br />to improve its physical fitness and environment by biking and <br />walking; and, <br />WHEREAS, local state and federal studies show that <br />unless action is taken now to reduce vehicle and other emissions, <br />the future health and survival of the Earth's inhabitants will <br />continue to deteriorate. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and <br />Council of the City of Colton support California Rideshare Week <br />October 1-5, 1990 and will participate in "Keep California Moving <br />Day - October 3, 1990". <br />ADOPTED: September 18 1990. <br />AP -PROVED <br />VED��6 T't%Yn <br />nEPHEN EDWARDS, City -Attorney y <br />ATTEST: <br />HELEN RAMOS, City Clerk <br />�RVWINIIAAV. lm� <br />
