R-102-96 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON, CALIFORNIA, IMPLEMENTING THE CITIZENS <br />OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (COPS) PROGRAM. <br />The City Council of the City of Colton, California does resolve as follows: <br />WHEREAS, the State Budget Act of 1996 (AB 3229) added Government <br />Sections 30061 et seq. to require the State Controller, pursuant to a written <br />from the County, to allocate funds to the County for the Citizens Option for <br />Safety (COPS) Program; and funds received by the County shall be allocated to <br />Cities; and <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 30061 et seq. require the City <br />establish as part of the COPS Program a Supplemental Law Enforcement <br />Fund (SLESF), to be expended exclusively for front line law enforcement, <br />anti -gang and community crime prevention programs, in accordance with <br />and procedures specified therein; and <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 30061 et seq. require the County <br />establish as part of the COPS Program a Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversigh <br />Committee (SLEOC), consisting of five members as specified therein, to <br />SLESF expenditures and perform other functions as specified therein; and <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to implement the COPS Program and to <br />funding for the COPS Program from the State pursuant to AB 3229. <br />Page 1 <br />
