CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 6, 2001 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />i <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Managerq�----- <br />FROM: Tom Hendrix, Fire Chief <br />SUBJECT: Request for Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointment <br />to the full time position of Fire Captain <br />DATE: February 26, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There are 12 Fire Captain positions within the Fire Department. We expect the <br />retirement of one or more Captains after July, 2001. Staff requests that recruitment be <br />conducted to establish an eligibility list to fill the anticipated vacancy and any others that <br />may occur during the term of the list. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for the position will be conducted and an eligibility list established, upon <br />City Council approval. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience <br />requirements, as specified in the job description (copy attached). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funds for the position have been budgeted in the 2001-02 Fiscal Year from Account <br />Number 100-6090-6091-1010 (Salaries) and 100-6090-6091-1100 (Salary Related <br />Benefits). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Not to fill the position. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT:° <br />To ensure that the lives and property of Colton's citizens receiv0-a "fig 446vel of <br />protection, all emergency situations should be supervised by per�oMefwtty-�6ve <br />proven that they have the training and experience necessary to fulfill this.-resporrsibiTf - <br />Item # 5 <br />
