DATE: March 26, 2001 BACKGROUND: The State minimum wage was increased to $6.25 per hour as of the January 01, 2001. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The City Council increased some part -rime positions in January, because the State minimum wage was increased. There is one part-time position that is below the new State minimum wage that was overlooked, the Community Child Care Teacher's Helper position. In addition, there is presently a "internal" relationship that needs to be maintained between the Community Child Care Teacher's Helper position and th Community Child Care Teacher's Aide position. The proposed recommendation will bring the Teacher's Helper position to slightly above the State minimum wage and retain the existing internal relationship that currently exists with the Teacher's Aide position. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The maximum financial impact of the part-time salary increases through June 30, 2001 is approximately $ 2,600. Allocation for the increase is from account 72-02-1040 which represents State Latch Key funds and does not come from the General Fund. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None LEGAL REVIEW: City Attorney RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached consolidated part- time salary resolution and increasing some of the salary ranges for other part-time positions retroactive to the first pay period in January 2001.
