Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services <br />Subject: Request Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointment to <br />The Full-time Position of Maintenance Worker I in the Building <br />Maintenance Division of Parks, Recreation & Family Services <br />Date: April 9, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is a need for one (1) Maintenance Worker I position in the Building Maintenance Division. <br />The salary range is $1992-2422. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Division currently has four full-time staff members. The staff currently oversees the <br />maintenance and minor construction needs of all City buildings. The desire is to increase the <br />quality of services and remaining ahead of problems that could permanently damage facilities. <br />To do so, an additional full-time staff member is required. Recruitment for this position would <br />be conducted and an eligibility list established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen <br />would meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Hiring for this position would be effective July 1, 2001. Funds are budgeted in the Internal <br />Service Fund, Account No. 605-6150-6159-1010, (salaries — miscellaneous), and Account No. <br />605-6150-6159-1100, (salary related benefits). <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />An additional position is key to ensuring that the City of Colton's buildings are not only properly <br />maintained, but are maintained at a level that allows both staff and residents to be proud. <br />LEGAL REVIEW: <br />91c�G- <br />�City: Attorney <br />HUMAN RESOURCE: <br />Director <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the <br />employee appointment to the full-time position of Maintenance Worker I. <br />Item #9 <br />
