Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services Subject: Request Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointment to The Full-time Position of Maintenance Worker I in the Building Maintenance Division of Parks, Recreation & Family Services Date: April 9, 2001 BACKGROUND: There is a need for one (1) Maintenance Worker I position in the Building Maintenance Division. The salary range is $1992-2422. DISCUSSION: The Division currently has four full-time staff members. The staff currently oversees the maintenance and minor construction needs of all City buildings. The desire is to increase the quality of services and remaining ahead of problems that could permanently damage facilities. To do so, an additional full-time staff member is required. Recruitment for this position would be conducted and an eligibility list established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen would meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Hiring for this position would be effective July 1, 2001. Funds are budgeted in the Internal Service Fund, Account No. 605-6150-6159-1010, (salaries — miscellaneous), and Account No. 605-6150-6159-1100, (salary related benefits). ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: An additional position is key to ensuring that the City of Colton's buildings are not only properly maintained, but are maintained at a level that allows both staff and residents to be proud.
