Clarke, Utilities Director <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for (2) AIS -9 Padmount Switches to McAvoy & Markham in the <br />Amount of $19,764.95 <br />DATE: June 11, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Utilities Department purchases pad -mounted switches for its electrical distribution system when the <br />need arises to upgrade or replace switches, or for new installations. The City also orders back-up <br />switches to be used to replace a switch installed on the system that may be damaged. Back-up switches <br />are necessary, due to the long delivery time. <br />At this time, the Utilities Department has a requirement for two (2) AIS -9 padmount switches; one to be <br />used to replace an obsolete installation and one for a new installation in a residential neighborhood. <br />DISCUSSION /ANALYSIS: <br />On May 16, 2001, the Utilities Department posted a Notice Inviting Bid for (2) AIS -9 padmount switches. <br />A bid opening was held at 3:30p.m., May 30, 2001, at the Corporate Yard. Four bids were received and <br />evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing the price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The <br />recommended vendor's price is underlined. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />Funds are approved and available in the FY 00/01 Utilities Department account number <br />520-8000-8045-3890-0107-000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends award of bid for two (2) AIS -9 pad -mount switches to McAvoy & Markham in the <br />amount of $19,764.95. <br />Report prepared by Rebecca Gallegos, Buyer <br />Attachment: Bid Analysis <br />Item #6 <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
