CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 19, 2001
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
lz
FROM: Ronald C. Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation and Family Services
SUBJECT: Request approval to issue Notice of Completion for the CDBG Project
#104-23202 — Colton Cesar Chavez Park Restroom
DATE: JUNE 11, 2001
BACKGROUND:
At the City Council Meeting of September 26, 2000, the Contract for the CDBG Project #104-
22302 — Colton Cesar Chavez Park Restroom was awarded to Paul D. Wilson, Inc. The existing
Cesar Chavez Park restroom was demolished and the new restroom constructed in the same
location. The new restroom is approximately fifty percent (50%) larger than the previous
structure, with improved lighting, more stalls and a janitor's room to store cleaning supplies.
Plans for this reconstruction were based upon the Parks & Recreation Commission's
recommendations and were designed by Gary W. Miller Architect & Associates, Inc. of San
Bernardino, California.
Existing water, sewer and electric connections were utilized in order to keep reconstruction
costs at a minimum. The new facility has been constructed with a combination of concrete brick
and wood in a style that blends with the park surroundings. Both the exterior and interior of the
building have been constructed with materials designed to discourage graffiti; the additional
lighting, both inside and outside the structure, has been designed to deter vandalism.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSIO
The work of this project has been completed per the Contract Documents and Specifications.
The City's Building & Safety Division performed routine inspections throughout the course of the
project. The final punch list was prepared for the Contractor by the City's Inspectors, noting any
and all items found to be incomplete and/or unacceptable. The punch list was satisfactorily
completed as directed and the project was deemed complete and acceptable by the Inspectors.
All Change Order Work has been completed, inspected and approved.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
Item #9
