1 RESOLUTION NO, 2554 2 WHEREAS, the State Division of Highways proposes to widen the San 3 Bernardino Freeway (Interstate 10) to eight lanes; and 4 WHEREAS, Colton has adopted a Redevelopment Plan in an area con- ! 5 tiguous in part to said freeway; and 61 WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary to maximize the accessibility to 7 and facilitate the movement of traffic from said Redevelopment area; and 8 WHEREAS, a direct entry into the area from the San Bernardino 9 Freeway (Interstate 10) is vital to serve such area; and 10 WHEREAS, adequate traffic circulation in down town Colton requires 11 ingress and egress to and from said freeway; and 12 WHEREAS, the State Division of Highways has submitted preliminary 13 maps and cost estimates for the additional eastbound on ramp and westbound 14 off ramp at 9th Street; and 15 WHEREAS, retaining walls are essential to minimize the land re- 16 quirements adjacent to vital Colton business buildings and operations; and 17 WHEREAS, the City of Colton must finance the retaining walls for 18 the new ramps at 9th Street (Estimated Cost $50, 000); and further • • 19 WHEREAS, Gas Tax Funds can be used for this purpose; • 20 NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved and it is hereby recommended that • • • 21 an on ramp (eastbound) and off ramp (westbound) be established at 9th Street • • 22 in the City of Colton, and that the City of Colton does hereby agree to finance • • 23 the cost of the necessary retaining walls in lieu of additional right of way, and • 24 further that the City Manager is hereby instructed to work closely with the • • 25 Division of Highways on the design of these facilities to minimize interference 26 with the use of the land and business operations on adjacent parcels to the • 27 freeway in the City of Colton. 28 PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 6th day of April, 1965. 29 ayor 30 ATTEST: 31 City Clerk 32
