CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 7, 2001 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Al Holliman, Assistant City Manage <br />SUBJECT: Approve and Implement Compensation Study for IBEW Meter Reader Job <br />Family and Maintenance Electrician Job Classification <br />DATE: July 30, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Item #10 <br />The current IBEW contract was ratified by City Council on October 3, 2000. Included in the <br />contract was agreement by the City to perform a compensation study of the Maintenance <br />Electrician Job Classification and the Meter Reader "job family" and to use the cities of Azusa and <br />Riverside for comparison. The results of the survey were to be implemented by July 1, 2001. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The Meter Reader job classification survey average was 24.74% above the City of Colton salary <br />schedule and the Maintenance Electrician job classification survey average was 14.98% above. <br />The classifications and new salary ranges are detailed below: <br />Job Classification Current E Step Proposed E Step <br />Maintenance Electrician $3617 $4159 <br />Meter Reader Job Family <br />Meter Reader $2804 $3498 <br />Consumer Service Field Rep. $3027 $3773 <br />Senior Meter Reader $3155 $3936 <br />Senior Consumer Service Field Rep. $3404 $4246 <br />Meter Operations Supervisor $4923 $6141 <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />$ 8,735 Utilities Department Budget $6,470 Account Number 520-8000-8003-1010-0580- <br />000 for salary and $2,265 Account Number 520-8000-8003-1100-0926-000 for <br />salary related benefits. <br />$124,054 Utilities Department Budget, $91,892 Account Number 520-8000-8003-1010-0580- <br />000 and $32,162 Account Number 520-8000-8003-1100-0926-000 for salary related <br />benefits. <br />Item #10 <br />
