Barrera, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: Public Hearing to consider the Designation of Historic Landmark #47, <br />located at 140 West C Street <br />DATE: August 27, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On August 14, 2002, the Historic Preservation Commission (see attached Exhibit A) reviewed <br />and approved the designation of the following site as a Historic Landmark within the City of <br />Colton: <br />Landmark #47 Residence 140 West "C" Street <br />The designation of the residential dwelling was requested by the dwelling owner, Carmen E. <br />Jimenez. This dwelling is a significant historical resource on an individual and district basis. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The residential dwelling at 140 West C Street was constructed during ca. 1937-1938. It is a <br />single -story, English Bungalow Style with Medieval/Tudor accents residence, as well as the <br />mature landscape architecture and a English Bungalow Style with Medieval/Tudor accents <br />garage. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The designation of this historic landmark will create no financial impact to the City. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The project has been determined to be categorically exempt pursuant to Section 15061(b)(3) <br />and Section 15331 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Based on the Historic Preservation Commission's review and the recommendation of <br />Archaeological Consulting Services, of the historically eligible site, staff recommends <br />designation of historic Landmark #47 as described above. <br />1 <br />
