CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 07, 2006 TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members FROM: Jeannette Olko, Electric Utility General Manager SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointment to the part-time position of Consumer Service Field Representative in the Electric Department; approve and adopt resolution establishing pay range for part-time Consumer Service Field Representative DATE: January 26, 2006 BACKGROUND: The Electric Utility currently has two funded vacant positions and an employee on medical leave in the Substation Division, which has created the need to hire two part-time (temporary) Consumer Service Field Representatives. The recruitment of these two positions will allow the Electric Utility to maintain its current level of service to its customers. Establishing a part-time position will also give the Electric Utility more flexibility in managing its staff in the event of future vacancies. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The salary range for the Part-time Consumer Service Field Representative is from $13 per hour to $15 per hour; there will be no benefits associated with this position. It is anticipated that these two employees will work full-time hours for at least the next 30 days. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There are currently funds available in account number 520-8000-8003-1040-0000-000. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements None. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Council approve the request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointment to the part-time position of Consumer Service Field Representative, and approve and adopt a resolution establishing a part-time salary range, Resolution No. XX -XX.
