CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF February 7, 2006 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Kenneth Rulon, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Request for Recruitment and Ratification of Employee <br />Appointment to the Full Time Position of Police Lieutenant <br />DATE: January 24, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND <br />There are currently two (2) vacant Police Lieutenant positions in the Police Department. <br />We are requesting to fill current and future openings provided funding and allocation is <br />budgeted. <br />DISCUSSION/ ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for these positions will be conducted and an eligibility list established upon <br />Council Approval. The candidates chosen will meet the education and experience <br />requirements as specified in the job description. The current salary range for Police <br />Lieutenant is $6,588 to $8,008. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding is available in the general fund for fiscal year 2005/06 budget. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />Not Applicable <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Do not approve the department's request to fund this position. <br />CONFLICT OF INTEREST: <br />Not Applicable <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the department's request to recruit and <br />aonoint the Dositions of Police Lieutenant. <br />City Attorney:4 Finance Director: <br />City Manager:f_ <br />OTHER: L- - <br />
