CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF Mav 2, 2006 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Directoryo I SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the State Pre -Kindergarten Resource Grant for the Childcare Division of the Community Services Department DATE: April 19, 2006 BACKGROUND: The State of California Department of Education has released funding to the Colton State Pre -School Program in the amount of $2,833 for fiscal year 2005-06. The funds must be used for the benefit of pre- kindergarten children, ages three to five years, and to enhance program quality for pre -kindergarten child care and development programs. ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: For the current fiscal year, funding from the State Pre -Kindergarten Resource Grant will be used to refurbish and/or replace worn equipment, as well as purchase new learning materials at the Sierra Vista State Pre -School site. All equipment and materials purchased will be in compliance with State licensing standards. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no general fund impact from this grant receipt. The funds should be placed into Childcare revenue account 206-5880, and the corresponding appropriation for expenditure should be to Childcare expenditure account 206-7200-7203-2304. Both accounts will be increased by the grant amount of $2,833.
