CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR THE COLTON UTILITY AUTHORITY MEETING OF MAY 16, 2006 TO: HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND UTILITY AUTHORITY MEMBERS FROM: ERIC R. FRASER, DIRECTOR OF WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATIONS SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID TO WESTERN WATER WORKS FOR FUTURE PIPELINE REPLACEMENT MATERIAL IN AN AMOUNT NOT -TO -EXCEED $151,992.16. DATE: MAY 8, 2006 BACKGROUND: The City of Colton has several projects underway to install and replace various segments of water and sewer lines throughout the City. As such, there is a need to stock pipeline for these projects. DISC USSION/ANALYSIS: In accordance with the City's Purchasing Policy, requests for Sealed Bids were sent to National Water Works, Inland Water Works and Western Water Works for the necessary piping for future water and wastewater pipeline replacements, to include 6,000 feet of 12" sewer pipe and 3,000 feet of 16" water pipe. Three (3) sealed bids were received, opened and evaluated at the Corporate Yard Conference Room on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Western Water Works was the lowest bidder. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Sufficient funds are available in Capital Improvement Account Number 521-8100-8106-3890 and 522-8200-8206- 38903 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None CONFLICT OF INTEREST — Gift Disclosure Requirements Exact Business Name: Western Water Works President or Equal: Don Hines, President Contact: Eugene Ruiz, Account Manager RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Colton City Council, with concurrence by the Colton Utility Authority, approve the awarding of bids for material for Center Street improvements to Western Water Works for an amount not to exceed $151,992.16 and authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreements and all appropriate documents to implement the Award.
