CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF May 15, Z TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Bill Smith — Community Services Director SUBJECT: Authorization to Accept Additional $9,619 in Public Library Funds and Amend the Adopted Budget for a Total Fiscal Year 2006-07 Appropriation of $29,893 DATE: May 7, 2007 ITEM #15 BACKGROUND: The Colton Public Library anticipated $20,274 in revenue from the California State Public Library Fund for Fiscal Year 2006-07. This amount was included in the City's adopted budget. The California State Library Public Library Fund has approved an additional $9,619, over and above the initial $20,274 estimate, in funding for this program, for the current fiscal year. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: California State Public Library Grant funds are used to purchase library office equipment, instructional material and professional services. This fund has enabled the Library Division, in recent years, to supplement costs for building maintenance projects, professional services, computer upgrades, and additional library books and materials. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no General Fund impact as a result of this request. The budget allocations for Library Grant Revenue Account 211-5700-5772 and Library Grant Expenditure Account 211-6200- 7104-4930 would both be increased by the additional grant amount of $9,619. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None CONFLICT OF INTEREST: None RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve resolution authorizing the acceptance of additional grant funding in the amount of $9,619 from the California State Library, Public Library Fund, and increasing the budget allocations in the Library Grant Fund for Fiscal Year 2006-07 to account for these additional grant funds.
