CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members FROM: Bill Smith — Community Services Director SUBJECT: Request Approval for Ratification of Employee Appointment to the Position of Recreation Services Coordinator in the Community Services Department DATE: May 3, 2007 ITEM #9 BACKGROUND: The Community Services Department is requesting to appoint a Recreation Services Coordinator in the Recreation Division. This request is due to the recent resignation of one of the incumbents in this position. The Recreation Division currently has two (2) Coordinators on -staff who oversee programs at three (3) community centers, as well as throughout the community. The current salary range is $3,206 to $3,896. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: City Council recently approved the recruitment and ratification of appointment for a third Recreation Coordinator in the Community Services Department. The recruitment for this position is currently underway. This newest vacancy will be filled using the current recruitment, simply appointing a second candidate from the eligibility list pursuant to the recruitment process. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no impact to the General Fund as a result of this appointment. The position is budgeted in the Community Services Department for the current fiscal year, and is accounted -for in the 100- 6200-6202 expenditure account group. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None CONFLICT OF INTEREST: None RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the request for ratification of an employee appointment to the position of Recreation Services Coordinator in the Recreation Division of the Communitv Services Department.
