ITEM #14 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 5, 2009 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE RECORDATION OF A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR <br />THE 8TH STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. <br />DATE: APRIL 13, 2009 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The 8th Street Improvement Project is one of the listed projects in this fiscal year's CIP (Capital <br />Improvement Program). The project scope included: pulverizing existing asphalt, pulverizing <br />base, installation of four inches of asphalt overlay, and installation of concrete cross gutter on the <br />north end of the project. The cross gutter improvement addressed drainage concerns conveyed to <br />the city by residents on the north end/west side of this street. The Project limit is along 8th Street <br />commencing approximately 175 feet south of the Citrus Avenue/8 h Street intersection, north to <br />Johnston Street. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />On June 17, 2008, the City Council authorized the award of a construction agreement for the 8th <br />Street Improvement Project to S & S Grading and Paving, Inc. The awarded construction <br />agreement was in the amount of $206,703.05. A Notice to Proceed for this project was issued on <br />August 20, 2008, and the project was completed as of February 18, 2009. S & S Grading and <br />Paving, Inc. completed the project satisfactorily as specified on the project plans and <br />specifications, in the amount of $206,703.05.
