ITEM #14 CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 5, 2009 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE RECORDATION OF A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE 8TH STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. DATE: APRIL 13, 2009 BACKGROUND: The 8th Street Improvement Project is one of the listed projects in this fiscal year's CIP (Capital Improvement Program). The project scope included: pulverizing existing asphalt, pulverizing base, installation of four inches of asphalt overlay, and installation of concrete cross gutter on the north end of the project. The cross gutter improvement addressed drainage concerns conveyed to the city by residents on the north end/west side of this street. The Project limit is along 8th Street commencing approximately 175 feet south of the Citrus Avenue/8 h Street intersection, north to Johnston Street. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: On June 17, 2008, the City Council authorized the award of a construction agreement for the 8th Street Improvement Project to S & S Grading and Paving, Inc. The awarded construction agreement was in the amount of $206,703.05. A Notice to Proceed for this project was issued on August 20, 2008, and the project was completed as of February 18, 2009. S & S Grading and Paving, Inc. completed the project satisfactorily as specified on the project plans and specifications, in the amount of $206,703.05. Staff requests authorization to record the Notice of Completion for the 8th Street Improvement Project.
