ITEM NO. 0 4 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />0"o R^Tap <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 16, 2010 <br />TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL ' <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: BILL SMITH, COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: PRESCHOOL CONTRACT AMENDMENT <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution R-©%-10, approving the State of <br />California Contract Amendment CSPP-9441 for the Early Childhood Education Division of the <br />Community Services Department, for the fiscal year 2009-10. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to continue to provide preschool services to <br />Colton's families. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City of Colton's preschool program is funded by a grant from the State of California, <br />Department of Education. The State of California has notified the City of an amendment to the <br />current preschool contract for fiscal year 2009-2010, especially in the "Funding Terms and <br />Conditions" portion of the contract. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />The "Funding Terms and Conditions" language has been amended, effective July 1, 2009 by the <br />State Department of Education. Each contractor must adhere to any changes or requirements <br />incorporated into the contract, in addition to all other applicable laws and regulations. A copy of <br />"Amendment 01" to the preschool contract, CSPP-9441, is attached, with proposed changes <br />noted, for reference. The changes relate to determining participant eligibility and required <br />documentation, and are not expected to significantly impact services to our customers. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS <br />There is no financial impact to this proposed contract amendment. <br />
