ITEM NO. 06 <br />STAFF REP R <br />DATE: MARCH 16, 2010 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: TOM HENDRIX, FIRE CHIEFC�L� <br />SUBJECT: PUBLIC HEARING TO DISCUSS THE CITY'S ANNU WEED <br />ABATEMENT PROGRAM <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Staff requests Council's approval to begin the Annual Weed Abatement Program. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to provide a comprehensive annual weed <br />abatement program for the City. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Annually, each spring and fall, the Fire Department administers the City's Weed Abatement <br />Program. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />At the regular City Council Meeting on March 2, 2010, the City Council approved Resolution <br />Number R-09-10 declaring weeds, rubbish and trash a public nuisance and directing the Fire <br />Chief to give notice and provide for the abatement. <br />At this time, the City is entering into the Spring Program. Notices have been sent to all vacant <br />property owners as identified and reported from the San Bernardino County Tax Assessor. <br />Abatement proceedings are scheduled to begin June 1, 2010. <br />
