ITEM NO. 05 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: MAY 18, 2010 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCI <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: 2009-2010 CITYWIDE DRAINAGE AND STREET IMPROVIENT <br />PROJECT <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council authorize: 1) approve change order no. 1 and 2) <br />authorize recordation of the notice of completion for 2009-2010 Citywide Drainage and Street <br />Improvement Projects. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action supports the City's goal to improve road conditions and traffic safety. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The following projects are listed in the Fiscal Year 2009/2010 Capital Improvement Program <br />and scheduled for construction in FY 2009/2010: Glenwood/Reche Canyon Drainage <br />Improvement, Sperry 1-10 Drainage Improvement, and Lark Street Drainage Improvements. The <br />scope of work for these improvement projects includes installation of. asphalt, curb, gutter, <br />sidewalk and catch basins. These projects were formally bid as parts of the 2009-2010 Drainage <br />and Street Improvement Project. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />Formal bidding for the 2009-2010 Drainage and Street Improvement Project was advertised in <br />local papers and trade journals starting on September 5, 2009. The bid opening was conducted <br />on October 6, 2009 and staff received formal proposals from eight (8) firms. Upon review of the <br />submitted bid documents, City staff found that SJ Grigolla Construction is the lowest responsive <br />and responsible bidder their corresponding bid amounts for the Project were as follows: <br />Base Bid <br />Bidder Glenwood Optional Bid # 1 Optional Bid # 2 <br />Sperry Reche Canyon Lark Street <br />SJ Grigolla <br />Construction $ 58,725.00 $ 33,200.00 $ 33,950.00 <br />
