ITEM NO. 03 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: AUGUST 3, 2010 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY C!IL <br />' <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: TOM HENDRIX, FIRE CHIEF <br />SUBJECT: SET FOR PUBLIC HEARING, FOR THE MEETING OF AUGUST 17, <br />2010, A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO WEED ABATEMENT AND <br />THE PLACEMENT OF PARCELS ON THE COUNTY PROPERTY <br />ASSESSMENT TAX ROLLS <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council set the Public Hearing for the meeting of August 17, <br />2010, and consider a resolution adopting the Report of Costs confirming those costs provided to <br />the County for placement on the Tax Rolls for payment. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to provide a comprehensive annual weed <br />abatement program for vacant parcels within the City. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City's Spring Weed Abatement Program is nearing completion. A total of 73 parcels have <br />been identified for abatement. This number is approximately 25% lower than last year. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />Prior to final placement on the County Tax Rolls, a Public Hearing is required to consider the <br />Report of Costs and to hear any objections from property owners liable to be assessed for the <br />abatement. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Provide alternative direction to staff. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />None <br />
