O4 <br />BILL SMITH, COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR <br />FACILITY NAMING APPLICATION — CAMILO CA REON FIELD <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve Resolution R-56-10, attaching the name <br />"Camilo Carreon Field" to the southeastern -most ball field in the newly -constructed sports <br />complex at Veterans Park. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to effectively process facility naming <br />applications received from the public, in accordance with City policy, as set by Resolution R-86- <br />09. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City has received an Application for the Naming of Parks, Park Features, or Community <br />Facilities, from Dolores Carreon. This application calls for the naming of a ball field at the <br />recently -completed sports complex in Veterans Park. The proposed name is "Camilo Carreon <br />Field." A copy of the application, as well as supporting material provided by the applicant, is <br />attached to this report. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />The application has been processed in accordance with Resolution R-86-09, including all posting <br />and noticing requirements. The Recreation & Parks Commission considered the application at <br />its regular meeting of July 21, 2010. After discussion, the Commission voted 5-0 to forward a <br />recommendation to City Council that it approve the application. According to Resolution R-86- <br />09, the final decision on the application rests with City Council. <br />
