ITEM NO. 06 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />T <br />1, yea <br />OQPORATEO <br />DATE: OCTOBER 5, 2010 / <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY C7; <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGERX C <br />PREPARED BY: BOB MILLER, POLICE CHIEF CI& <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE OFFICE OF JUSTICE <br />PROGRAM OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE GRANT (2010 -DD - <br />BX -0388), AND ADOPT BUDGET AMENDMENT <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council adopt Resolution R-69-10, authorizing the approval and <br />acceptance of the Office of Justice Program of the Department of Justice Grant (2010 -DD -BX - <br />0388) in the amount of $200,000. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />To provide the Police Department with auxiliary power in the form of a new diesel generator that <br />meets the departments needs, and meets current AQMD pollution standards and regulations. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On September 2, 2010, the Office of Justice Program of the Department of Justice (2010 -DD - <br />BX -0388) awarded the Colton Police Department a grant in the amount of $200,000. This Grant <br />money is to be used to purchase equipment and supplies that would enhance the Police <br />Department's preparedness to prevent, protect, respond and recover in the event of a power <br />outage in the Police Department building. The accompanying Resolution is required to accept <br />this Grant and to amend the budget in the amount of $200,000. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />The Office of Justice Program of the Department of Justice Grant was awarded to the City of <br />Colton Police Department for the funding of a new diesel generator and permits that meets the <br />needs of the Police Department. Over the past several years, strict pollution regulations were <br />enacted by the AQMD that rendered our current diesel generator out -dated and useless to the <br />Colton Police Department. The police department has been renting a portable diesel generator to <br />take the place of the old generator. This temporary solution did not resolve the AQMD permit <br />requirements. Funding for the purchases are by reimbursement and do not require matching <br />funds. Approved equipment and supplies to be purchased are as follows: <br />Diesel Generator <br />AQMD Permit <br />
