For Council Meeting of August 3, 1993 <br />T0: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />FROM: Erik Wood, Administrative Analyst�`� <br />SUBJECT: Davis Park Improvement Project <br />Date: July 27, 1993 <br />BACKl1R4UND: <br />The proposed site for the Davis Park Improvement Project is the vacant lot located just west of <br />the existing Davis Park facility. It is a 61,500 square foot site which was designed in <br />conjunction with the community group from Community Facilities District 88-1. <br />DISCtISSIDN: 1993 <br />The City Council awarded bid on this project to Mathis Construction Inc. on June 15, , <br />however Mr. Mathis failed to honor his bid due to financial difficulties with his company. (see <br />attachment "A ") Consequently the City has pursued the collection of the Mathis Surety Bond in <br />the amount of ten percent of his original bid, or $26,535.00. The matter of collecting this bid <br />bond has been turned over to the City Attorney. (see attachment NB") This bond amount can <br />then be applied to the purchase of a contract from the next lowest responsive bidder, which is <br />Shibata Landscape Inc. at $289, 765.00. Shibata Landscape has indicated that they are willing <br />to honor their bid and that they are very capable of completing this project. (see attachment <br />"C") <br />RECC)MNFENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the bid be awarded to Shibata Landscape in the amount of $289,765. <br />This recommendation was concurred into by the CFD commission at their meeting) on July 26, <br />1993. <br />Repay prepared by Erik Wood, Parks, Recreation & Human Services <br />City Manager's Concurrence J}� <br />s ter. <br />Attachments: <br />Page 1 of-6— <br />Item No. 3 <br />
