ACEVEDO, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Various Transformers to Date: February 9, <br />General Electric Supply in the amount of $4,,978.04, <br />Kuhlman Electric in the Amount of $940.66; Utility <br />Products in the Amount of 2,146.38, WESCO Utility in <br />the Amount of $2,019.23 and Pawuels Transformers in the <br />Amount of $12,513.01 <br />BACKGROUND <br />Utility transformers are ordered into Electric Stores inventory for <br />use on an as required basis. The quantity and sizes are projected <br />by the City's Electrical Engineer as plans are submitted for new <br />development and replacement transformers are needed. On December 22, <br />1992, General Services advertised for sealed bids for some of these <br />requirements. Bid opening was held at 2:30 p.m., January 20, 1993, <br />in the General Services office. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Seven bids were received and evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached <br />showing price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended <br />vendor's price is underlined for each transformer. The total of <br />bid award is listed at the bottom for each vendor. Also attached, <br />is a Transformer Load Loss Evaluation, which was prepared on the <br />computer. This evaluation shows the true cost of the transformer <br />over its useful lifetime, using a combination of load calculations <br />supplied by the transformer manufacturer and unit prices quoted by <br />the vendor. The lowest evaluated cost for each transformer is under- <br />lined. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends bid award to General Electric Supply in the amount of <br />$4,978.04, Kuhlman Electric in the Amount of $940.66, Utility Products <br />in the amount of $2,146.38, WESCO Utility in the amount of $2,019.23 <br />and Pawuels Transformers in the amount of $12,513.01. <br />Report Prepared by: Mary J.Sc bn r, u er <br />CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE: <br />Attachments: Bid Analysis <br />Transformer Load Loss Evaluation <br />Page 1 of---!— Item No.. <br />1993 <br />
