VA
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting January 19, 1993
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: JOHN C. HUTTON, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKDate: 1/13/92
i
r SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION TO RE -BID THE PHASE 1 SO. LA CADENA
F BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT
BACKGROUND
The South La Cadena Beautification Project was originally initiated
under a Community Development block grant program with a scope of
work that included the installation of missing link curb, sidewalks
and wheel chair ramps, and the addition of new street paving,
landscaping and irrigation.
The total project spans a length of over 2 miles, between I-10 to
the south city limits with the exception of the County pocket south
of the Santa Ana River and that portion adjacent within the City of
Grand Terrace covering a length of La Cadena from Litton to La Loma
Avenue.
The project consists of three phases estimated at a total cost of
approximately 1.6 million dollars broken down into the following
sections.
Phase 1 La Cadence Drive, I-10 to the Congress Street
Railroad overpass
.ver ass
,
Phase 2 La Cadena Drive from the Congress Street Railroad
overpass to the Santa Ana River and
Phase 3 La Cadena Drive from La Loma to the most southerly
City limits
The reason for the three phases being necessary was for financing
purposes, as the only original source was community development
block grant funds which amounted to approximately 360,000.00, with
Phase 1 estimated to be approximately $660,000.00, acquiring
additional funding sources was imperative.
The first funding source that became available was that of the host
City landfill tipping fee, imposed by the San Bernardino County
8
