CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT'
For Council Meeting of June 1, 1993
To: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
From: JACK H. STRATTON, CHIEF OF POLIC Dater May 25, 1993
Subject; CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
CHIEF OF POLICE TO SIGN TRAINING AGREEMENTS
WITH THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL
BACKGROUND:
It is the intention of our department to initiate a commercial enforcement program
within the City of Colton. This program entails traffic officers specially trained in
commercial enforcement performing vehicle inspections to insure conformity within
our jurisdiction. The community will benefit from safer commercial transportation on
local streets and highways and all training costs will be paid for using asset seizure
funds.
DISCUSSION:
This department was recently contacted by the California Highway Patrol and advised
of two vacancies in their upcoming Commercial Enforcement training class beginning
June 7, 1993. In order for our officers to attend this class, the State requires that a City
Resolution be in place that authorizes the Police Chief to sign any training agreements
between the Colton Police Department and the California Highway Patrol. The
attached resolution of the City Council authorizes the Chief of Police to sign such
training agreements.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council for the City of Colton adopt the attached
resolution.
Report prepared by B. Lunsford, Police Captain.
Concurrence:
Jerry Y g, City Manager
Attachments: 2
Page l of l
Item No. /
