AERIAL DEVICE TRUCK TO DIETERICH INTERNATIONAL IN THE AMOUNT OF $138,086.12 AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO CARRY FORWARD THE FUNDS FROM THE 1995-96 FISCAL YEAR BACKGROUND A 50 ft. aerial device truck was approved in the FYI 995-96 budget for the Electric Department. The aerial device on this truck is hydraulically operated and is able to maneuver in tighter places such as alleys. On May 29, 1996, Purchasing solicited for sealed bids for this truck. Bid opening was held at 11:30 a.m., June 17, 1996. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS Three bids were received and evaluated. The low bid was received from Altec Industries, Inc. The truck they are proposing does not meet the bid specification because it has an articulate aerial device, J requiring a much larger area in which to maneuver. The second low bid was received from Dieterich International and does meet the requirements of the bid specification. A Bid Analysis is attached for your review showing the price and delivery quoted by each vendor. The recommended vendor's price is underlined. ALTERNATIVES None RE FINANCIAL IMPACT The aerial device truck was approved in the FYI 995-96 budget and funds are available in account 20- 5004-91. Staff is recommending that the Council carry forward the funds into FYI 996-97 for this 4zse. Thomas K. Clarke, Electric Utility Director ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT None Staff recommends that the Council authorize Finance to carry forward the funds from the FY1995-96 fiscal year appropriation and award the bid for this purchase to Dieterich International in the amount of $138,086.12.
