CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of June 4, 1996
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
APPROVAL: Nabar Enrique Martinez, City Managed,
FROM: Anna A. Vega, Finance Direct;, .
SUBJECT: Resolution declaring the City's Intention to Levy an Annual Assessment
for the Landscape and Lighting Maintenance District No. 1, Fiscal Year
1996/97
DATE: May 28, 1996
BACKGROUND
The City of Colton annually levies and collects special assessments in order to maintain the
improvements within the existing Landscape District Zones. The existing Landscape District
Zones were formed and levied annually pursuant to the Landscape and Lighting Act of 1972,
Part 2 of Division 15 of the California Streets and Highway Code.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS
The annual levy report describes the District and the proposed assessments for Fiscal Year
1996/97. The proposed assessments are based on the historical and estimated cost to
maintain the improvements that provide a direct and special benefit to properties within the
District. This assessment levy is necessary for the continual maintenance of the District.
ALTERNATIVES
Not declare City's intention to levy annual assessment. There are no other revenues to
pay for the maintenance of these services, therefore, this is not a viable alternative.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in a restricted fund, account no. 02-0304 for the 1996/97 fiscal year.
Q
Anna A. Vega, Finance 'r for
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolution declaring the City's
intention to levy an annual assessment for the Landscape and Lighting Maintenance District
No. 1, Fiscal year 1996/97.
Item # 4
