This amount is included in the City's budget for FY 96/97. However, the Governor and State
Legislature approved additional statewide funding for this program making the Colton Public Library
now eligible for an additional $3,332 this year. These grant funds are utilized to maintain and upgrade
the library's automated book check out system and services.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The Colton Public Library recognizes that a need exists to maintain and upgrade its current automated
book checkout system. By utilizing State Library Funds for this purpose, library customers are able to
access all library books and materials at both the Main and Luque Branch facilities via computer
terminals. This provides the citizens of Colton with the efficient and up-to-date library services they
deserve.
ALTERNATIVES
Without State Library Funds, the library's automated book checkout system and services could only
otherwise be maintained with City General Fund monies.
FINANCIAL IMPACT All
David
No cost item to Ci 'rJ Zc
David Michael Davis, City Librarian
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council authorize the City 4p accept an additional $3,332 in "State Library
Funds" amending the adopted budget for a total YY 96/97 appropriation of $30,332.
Attachment: Resolution
Item No. 14
