GARCIA, CITY MANAGE <br />FROM: TOM HENDRIX, ACTING FIRE C ' <br />SUBJECT: Public Hearing to Discuss the City's Weed Abatement Program <br />DATE: April 7, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Annually, each spring and fall, the Fire Department administers the City's Weed Abatement <br />Program. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />At the regular City Council Meeting on March 17, 1998 the City Council approved Resolution No. <br />R-23-98 declaring weeds, rubbish and trash a public nuisance and directing the Fire Chief to give <br />notice and provide for the abatement. <br />At this time, the City is entering into the Spring Program. Notices have been sent and abatement <br />proceedings are scheduled to begin May 8, 1998. <br />In addition, a public hearing is required to hear any objections by property owners who may <br />be assessed for the abatement. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />None <br />
