CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDAREPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF APRIL 21,1998 <br />TO: <br />Honorable Mayor & City Co cil <br />APPROVAL: <br />Henry Garcia, City Manag <br />FROM: <br />Dennis Morris, Human Resource Directot <br />SUBJECT: <br />Amendment to Rule IV, Section 6 of Resolution 2240, dealing with <br />amending the classification plan. <br />DATE: <br />April 13,1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Under the current personnel rules, the City Council has to approve any changes in job descriptions, <br />even when there is no change in salary. <br />DISCUSSIONOANALYSIS <br />This procedure hampers the ability of the Personnel Department to respond rapidly to their <br />customers (city departments) recruitment requests. The proposed amendment would allow the <br />Personnel Officer (the City Manager), to approve changes in job classifications or abolish job <br />classes when there is no chane in salary. <br />The City Council will be informed administratively by the City Manager as to any changes in the <br />job classifications. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION• <br />Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached amendment to Rule IV, Section 6 of Resolution <br />No. 2240 dealing amending the classification plan. <br />Attachment <br />DM:vlp <br />w hem # ` 15 <br />
