CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 1, 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manag <br />FROM: David Michael Davis, City Librarian <br />SUBJECT: Request for Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointments to the Part -Time <br />Positions of Library Page in the Library Department for Fiscal Year 98/99 <br />DATE: November 13, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: There are two (2) vacant part-time Library Page positions in the Library Department. <br />Attached is the job description of the classification; the salary is based on an hourly rate of $5.15 per <br />hour. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position is classified as "on-going". Recruitments are <br />conducted and eligibility lists established as needed throughout the year. The rate of employee <br />turnover is higher than that of full-time positions. The candidates chosen will meet the education and <br />experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this approved general fund position in the fiscal year <br />98/99 budget funded is as follows: Account No. 100-6250-6250-1040 (salaries part-time). <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: As vacancies occur. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: Library Pages re -shelve library books and materials and are <br />essential to the basic operation of a library. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of part-time Library <br />Page as vacancies occur, not to exceed the positions and salaries approved in the fiscal budget. <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Item No. 6 <br />
