CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of June 16, 1998
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manager
FROM: John C. Hutton, Public Works Director
SUBJECT Adopting Resolution Restricting Parking of Commercial
Vehicles Along the East side of Meridian Avenue
DATE: June 10, 1998
BACKGROUND:
Meridian Avenue is a two-lane asphalt roadway. A single-family residential
development has recently been completed along this section of Meridian Avenue. A
number of large commercial vehicles have been parking along this roadway near the
new development.
DISCUSSION:
This issue was reviewed by the Traffic Safety Committee, as the trucks are creating a
sight distance problem for the motorists entering and exiting the new development and
the apartment complex to the west. Prohibiting parking of large trucks in this area will
allow a safer traffic flow in this area.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the restriction
of parking commercial vehicles along the East side of Meridian Avenue between Olive
Street and Randall Avenue.
JCH/BBlbjw
Attachments: Resolution
Page _ of _ Itan # 22
