Hutton, Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Request for approval of Street Closure of Agua Mansa Road between <br />Riverside Avenue and the Rialto Flood Control Channel <br />DATE: November 16, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City of Rialto has currently let a contract for the installation of approximately 3500 <br />linear feet of new sewer main line along Agua Mansa Road between Riverside Avenue <br />and the Rialto Flood Control Channel. <br />The contractor has requested permission to close Agua Mansa Road to through traffic <br />during construction. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />In his request the contractor states that the roadway will be open with the appropriate <br />traffic control during working hours. During nighttime hours the roadway will be closed <br />to through traffic. This request limits the liability exposure for both the contractor and the <br />city. The tentative start of construction date is December 1, 1999 and the completion date <br />is December 31, 1999. The contractor has been advised that if work is started prior to an <br />approval of this request, he is not authorized to close the roadway beyond normal <br />construction practice. As part of this project the contractor will be resurfacing the section <br />of roadway affected by this project. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that council authorize the closure of Agua Mansa Road during the <br />hours of 4:30 PM until 6:30 am., from December 1, 1999 to December 31, 1999, <br />tentatively. <br />Page 1 of 1 Item #15 <br />
