CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO THE <br />FULL TIME POSITION OF WATER MAINTENANCE WORKER Ili IN THE <br />UTILITY DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: JANUARY 7, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In the FY98-99 Water Utility Budget, there are three (3) Maintenance Worker Ill positions inthe <br />Utility Department. Currently one vacancy exists. Attached is the job description of the <br />classification; the salary range is $2,137 to $2,598 per month. <br />DISCUSSIONAANALYSIS: <br />An eligibility list has been established. The candidate chosen will meet the education and <br />experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this position is contained in the Enterprise Fund of the FY98-99 Water <br />budget as follows: Account No. 521-8100-8101-1010 (salary) and Account No. 521-8100- <br />8101 -1100 <br />21-8100-8101-1100 (salary related benefits). <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: <br />February 1, 1999. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />This position will be responsible for the maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the Water System. <br />The position will respond to complaints from water customers and provide other customer <br />assistance, Such as water turn off or on for repairs. The position is required in order to meet <br />Federal and State regulations. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the employee <br />appointment to the full time position of Water Maintenance Worker III in the Utility Department. <br />Report Prepared By: Lorraine June <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Item # 7 <br />
