GARCIA, CITY MANAG(! <br />FROM: DILU DE ALWIS, ACTING FINANCES DIRECTOR " <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID TO CUES AS A SOLE SOURCE FOR THE PURCHASE OF ULTRA <br />SHORTY TRANSPORTER PAN AND TILT CAMERA FOR USE IN VIEWING STORM <br />DRAINS AND SEWER LINES IN THE AMOUNT OF $23,543.38. <br />DATE: JANUARY 11, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The WasteWater division of the Utility Department has requested to purchase a camera that will enter and <br />view 6" storm drains, sewer lines and water lines. On September 21, 1993 the City's Purchasing Division <br />solicited competitive bids for a Multi Conductor, Color, Television Inspection System used for inspection of <br />larger underground sewer and water pipe lines for the Water/WasteWater Utility Department. The bid was <br />awarded to Cues in the Amount of $27,691.75 at the Council meeting of October 26, 1993. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />Due to the dimensions of new sewer/water lines it is necessary to Purchase a camera that will enter and <br />view a 6" line and be fully compatible to the system previously purchased by the City. City staff has <br />conferred with another vendor regarding the compatibility of their cameras with our system and found that <br />Cues product is the only system fully compatible. Cues has submitted a quote for the purchase of this <br />camera. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT_ <br />Funds are approved and available in the FY 98/99 budget, Storm Water Division Account Number 722- <br />8200-8215-4930. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends award to Cues as a sole source for purchase of the Ultra Shorty Transporter Pan and <br />Tilt Camera in the amount of $23,543.38. <br />Report Prepared By: Nicole Mihld, Purchasing Assistant <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Item # 11 <br />
