CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For the Council Meeting of July 6, 1999 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY CO NCIL <br />APPROVAL: HENRY T. GARCIA, CITY MANAGER v— <br />FROM: THOMAS K. CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT FOR ONE <br />POSITION OF WELDER/WATER SERVICE WORKER IN THE UTILITY <br />DEPARTMENT/WATER DIVISION <br />DATE: JUNE 22, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In the FY99-00 Water Utility Budget, there is one (1) vacant Welder/Water Service Worker <br />position in the Utility Department. Currently one vacancy exists. Attached is the job <br />description for the classification; salary range is $2,162 - $2,625 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for said position has not been conducted and an eligibility list needs to be <br />established. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as <br />specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this position is contained in the Enterprise Fund of the FY99-00 Water <br />budget as follows: Account No. 521-8100-8101-1010 (salary) and Account No. 521-8100- <br />8101-1100 (salary related benefits). <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: <br />August 16, 1999. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />The position does not, on a regular basis, interact with the public, however, the Welder/Water <br />Service Worker performs skilled labor needed for emergency water line repairs, and other <br />water system maintenance and repairs. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the ratification of the employee appointment to the (1) <br />full-time position of Welder/Water Service Worker in the Utility Department. <br />Report Prepared By: Lorraine June <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />Item # 14 <br />
