CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF ENERGY SERVICES <br />SPECIALIST IN THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: March 8, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is one (1) vacant Energy Services Specialist position in the Utility Department due to a <br />Promotion. Attached is the job description of the classification; the salary range is $3,051 to <br />$3,709 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for this position will be conducted and an eligibility list established upon Council's <br />approval. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as <br />specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this position is contained in the Enterprise Fund of FY98-99 Electric <br />budget as follows: Account No. 520-8000-8005-1010-0580 (Salary) and Account No. 520-8000- <br />8005-1100-0926 (Salary -related Benefits). <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: May 3, 1999. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />This position is highly responsible for direct customer contact, maintaining customer information, <br />Preparation of public information, and staff development of Public Benefit Programs. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the employee <br />appointment to the full-time position of Energy Services Specialist in the Utility Department. <br />Report prepared by: Timothy C.
