Clarke, Utility Director-06--'4� <br />SUBJECT: Utility Billing Schedule, Proposed Bill Stuffer Language <br />DATE: February 7, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Utility Department is improving operating efficiencies and effectiveness for the Customer <br />Service Division, Meter Readers, and Consumer Service Field Representatives by restructuring <br />its reading/billing schedule so that an account is read and billed within the same month on <br />approximately the same date each month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />The following language for a bill stuffer is offered for review and possible action. This bill stuffier <br />will be available in both English and Spanish. On February 3, 2000, the Utilities Commission <br />approved the following language for a bill stuffer: <br />In order to provide more efficient customer service, the City of Colton Utility division of Customer <br />Service will be initiating a new meter reading/billing schedule. In our effort to provide our valued <br />utility customers better service, we are striving to read your meter approximately the same date <br />each month. <br />This new service schedule will assist our customers in planning for: <br />• Unlocking gates for meter reader <br />• Placing dogs inside <br />• Budgeting to pay your bill <br />Once implemented, the date of the next meter read will appear on your bill. In this transition you <br />may experience a fluctuation in service period.
