CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For the city council meeting of January 18, 2000
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manager
FROM: Thomas K. Clarke, Utility Director
SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF EASEMENTS FROM AMERICAN MODULAR FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A WATER DISTRIBUTION LINE IN GRAND TERRACE ON
MAINSTREET
DATE: Tuesday, January 11, 2000
BACKGROUND
The Cities of Colton and Grand Terrace have been in the process of extending water service on
Main Street to accommodate growth in Grand Terrace and to provide fire protection to existing
businesses in that area.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS
The City of Grand Terrace has requested that the City of Colton provide water service to a limited
area that is cost -prohibitive for Grand Terrace to service. Colton has existing water lines in close
proximity and can easily extend service to the areas as long as the proper easements are in place
that allow for construction and maintenance ingress and egress. These easements have been
received by the City from American Modular Structures. Upon acceptance, the City can
commence with construction of the water line. Further, the applicant has satisfied all other
conditions imposed by both Colton and Grand Terrace including approved plans, County Fire
approval, surveys, fire flow certification, and Grand Terrace Planning Commission approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no cost to the City of Colton for the easement.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the easements from American Modular Structures
for the installation of water lines in the City of Grand Terrace.
Page 1 of 1 (w/attachments)
Item #15
