CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of March 7, 2000 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manager y <br />Cf <br />FROM: Patrick G. Crowe, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Approval of travel expenses exceeding $1,000 to send one Police Sergeant to <br />Lifesavers 2000 conference in Atlanta. <br />DATE: February 10, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: The Police Department has been invited to attend a four-day National <br />Conference on Highway Safety Priorities. The California Office of Traffic Safety extended the <br />invitation to the Colton Police Department due to our being a recipient of the OTS Grant, <br />effective March 1, 2000. All costs will be fully reimbursed by the OTS Grant. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The Colton Police Department has been selected to attend due to its <br />participation in the OTS Grant program. The workshops at the conference will help the Colton <br />Police Department develop better traffic safety and enforcement programs and bring innovative <br />ideas to the City from the training and exhibitions. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Initially the expenditure of funds will be appropriated out of Account <br />#100-6070-6080-1160 (Education and Training). The California Office of Traffic Safety will <br />reimburse all costs. The estimated travel cost of $1,425.84 will be returned to the <br />aforementioned account.
