Kenny, Interim Recreation & Parks Director <br />Cecilia Hernandez, Neighborhood Services Coordinator <br />Subject: Use of Fleming Park & Band Shell By <br />City Of Colton, Recreation & Parks Department, <br />For Annual Cinco De Mayo Celebration <br />Saturday, May 6, 2000 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. <br />Date: March 13, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The annual Cinco De Mayo event is sponsored by the City of Colton Recreation & Parks <br />Department and various community service organizations. The first of a two-day event <br />will begin at Fleming Park on Saturday, May 6, 2000 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., with the <br />second day's activities being held on Sunday, May 7, in Veterans Park from noon to 5:00 <br />p.m. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This is a budgeted event and is free to the community. The financial impact will be to <br />general fund account 100-6200-6202-1040. The Department is partnering with the <br />County of San Bernardino's Tobacco Use Reduction Unit in sponsoring the event. The <br />County has agreed to provide $10,000 in in-kind services for the event. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />Fleming Park is an ideal setting for this special event; it is located in the center of town <br />making it accessible to residents. The event will include games, entertainment, and a <br />variety of food. Expected attendance is 500 adults, 300 children. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the use of Fleming Park and the band shell on Saturday, <br />May 6, 2000, for the City's Annual Cinco De Mayo Celebration. <br />PREPARED BY: <br />Cecilia Hernandez, Neighborhood Services Coordinator <br />Attachment: Facility Request <br />Item #11 <br />
