CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 TO THE KRIEGER & STEWART <br />DESIGN CONTRACT FOR WATER LINE REPLACEMENTS IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $69,300 FOR THE DESIGN OF ADDITIONAL WATER LINE <br />REPLACEMENTS <br />DATE: APRIL 19, 2000 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the August 3, 1999 Council meeting, Council awarded the design contract for water and <br />sewer line replacements to Krieger & Stewart in the amount of $162,200. On September 7, <br />1999 Council approved Change Order No. 1 increasing the contract by $22,100 to include the <br />replacement of additional water and sewer lines. The addition of these lines provided better <br />continuity to the overall project, and in some instances both water and sewer lines were <br />replaced in the same streets. On March 7, 2000 Council approved an additional change order in <br />the amount of $200,000 for construction inspection and the design of water and sewer lines for <br />Norman Road. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Change Order No. 3 is being requested for the design of water line replacements for the <br />following streets: <br />1. <br />Walters. -- Pennsylvania to Vermont <br />1015' <br />2. <br />Monroe -- Fur to Vermont <br />668' <br />3. <br />Fur -- Monroe to Vermont <br />800' <br />4. <br />Vermont --Fur to end <br />780' <br />5. <br />Penn Lane --Mill to Fur <br />366' <br />6. <br />Bryn Mawr -- Citrus to Pennsylvania <br />950' <br />7. <br />Bryton -- Bryn Mawr to end of street <br />300' <br />8. <br />Channel Crossing -- north of channel @ <br />Hillcrest to south of channel @ Hillcrest <br />200'x 3 crossings <br />600' <br />9. <br />Hillcrest -- Mt Vernon to Olive Place <br />1200' <br />10. <br />Bothwell -- Monterey to Hillcrest <br />300' <br />11. <br />Olive Place -- to end of street <br />300' <br />TOTAL <br />7,279' <br />The above streets Nos. 1-7 are scheduled for overlay through the City's CDBG program. The <br />replacement of the water lines needs to occur prior to the overlay.
