Item 0 9
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 4, 2001
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FROM: DILU DE ALWIS, FINANCE DIRECTOR 0
SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO PIGGY -BACK ON TO LOS ANGELES COUNTY BID #205455
TO PURCHASE TWO BLACK & WHITE POLICE SEDANS FROM WONDRIES
FLEET DIVISION IN THE AMOUNT OF $49,905.80
DATE: NOVEMBER 20, 2001
BACKGROUND
The Police Department replaces some of its oldest vehicles on a yearly basis. These vehicles have in excess
of 90,000 miles. Funds were budgeted in FY 2001-2002 to replace two of their oldest vehicles.
DISCUSSION/ ANALYSIS
Section 3.08.100 of the City's Purchasing Ordinance allows the City to enter into agreements with other
agencies for the purchase of supplies, services and equipment. In such instances, the procedures of that
agency shall satisfy all city requirements for the bid and award of those purchases. The City of Colton can
piggyback onto the Los Angeles County Bid #205455, under their cooperative purchasing provision. This will
save the City the cost of the formal bid process and allow us to take advantage of the volume discount afforded
to Los Angeles County.
ALTERNATIVES
Solicit sealed proposals for this vehicle; however, the cost may well be higher due to the smaller quantity.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The funds are available in the FY 2001-2002 budget in the Police Patrol automotive capital account #100-
6070-6072-4910.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
None
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council grant approval to piggyback on to the Los Angeles County Bid #205455
and award a contract to Wondries Fleet Group for the purchase of two police black & white sedans in the
amount of $49,905.80.
Report prepared by Mary J.
