Item #21 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 3, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER ' ) <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION REQUEST TO SOLICIT PUBLIC BIDS FOR <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE RESIDENTIAL MISSING LINK PROJECT <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 25, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City's W§siJentiaffti sing Linkrnroject consists of the construction of new curbs, sidewalks, drive <br />approaches and handicap ramps in various streets of the City; a project map is attached as exhibit <br />"A„ <br />The Plans, Contract Documents and Specifications, as prepared by G.K. & Associates, have been <br />reviewed by staff for compliance with City of Colton standard requirements; the project has also <br />been reviewed for compliance with federal requirements and approved. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The Residentia[94i5sing Link(Project is now ready for the public bidding process. During this process, <br />every attempt will be made by the Engineering Department staff to ensure a wide range of potential <br />Bidders are reached by the advertising process. The City will advertise in four (4) local newspapers <br />and in several Plan Houses where Contractors can view Plans, Specifications & Documents. <br />Once the Notice to Proceed is issued, the construction phase is expected to last 60 Calendar Days. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />The proposed public improvements are Exempt under Section 15301. (c) (Existing Highways or <br />Streets) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). <br />FINANCIAL/FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funding for this Troject has been allocated from Redevelopment Agency funds, Account No. 457- <br />9160-9163-3890, in the amount of $300,437.00 <br />
