AS <br />THE LOWEST RESPONSIVE AND RESPONSIBLE BIDDER <br />MARCH 24, 2003 <br />On December 3, 2002, the City Council authorized the demolition of concrete block bleachers and <br />dugouts adjacent to the ball field in Veteran's Pazk. Initially, Pazks, Recreation and Family Services <br />staff contacted three (3) Demolition Companies in an effort to get the project completed as quickly <br />as possible. However, only one company submitted a bid with a cost of $15,000. Since the project <br />would cost more than $S,OOQ it was considered a"Public Works ProjecY' and necessary to undergo <br />a formal bidding process. <br />On February 18, 2003, the City Council authorized the request to solicit public bids for this project. <br />The advertisement for public bidding began on March 7, 2003 and the bid opening was conducted <br />on March 24, 2003. Staff received formal proposals from four (4) firms as follows with their <br />corresponding bid amount: <br />1. J& G Industries, Inc. $ 15,300.00 <br />2. Intemational Pavement Solution, Inc $ 15,850.00 <br />3. MGG Services $ 16,955.00 <br />4. Hazber Companies, Inc. $ 18,460.00 <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />In the normal course of bid review, Engineering Department staff routinely checks the accuracy of <br />the bid schedule submitted, compliance with all the provisions in bidding documents and <br />specificarions, validity of bonds and surety, and the qualification of the Contractor based on their <br />recently completed similar project. <br />
