CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF January 21, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: RANDY RIVERA, PUBLIC SERVICES MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: Request for the (In -House) Recruitment and Ratification of <br />employee appointment to the full-time position of Crew Leader, in <br />the Public Services Department, Street Division. <br />DATE: January 9, 2003 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Item #5 <br />On February 3, 2003, this position will become vacant due to the incumbent's retirement. This position is <br />assigned to our concrete crew. The incumbent is responsible to perform the more complex duties <br />associated with concrete and is responsible for leading and overseeing the work of the concrete crew. <br />This is an approved position in the 2002/2003 budget: the salary range is $3029 - $3689 per month. <br />ANALYSIS /DISCUSSION <br />This position is primarily assigned to the concrete crew, however, the incumbent may be required to lead, <br />oversee, review and perform other work activities and duties assigned to the other street maintenance <br />crews. Recruitment for this position would be conducted and an eligibility list established. The candidate <br />chosen would meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />All funds have been approved in the 2002/2003 budget. This position is funded as follows: <br />Account No. 1000-6150-6160-1010 (Salaries -Miscellaneous) and Account No. 100-6150-6160-1100 <br />(Salary Related Benefits). <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the employee <br />appointment to the full-time position of Public Services Crew Leader. <br />PSAgmdaReport012103 <br />
